Jim Crowley Previews His Royal Ascot Rides

Coral ambassador Jim Crowley has six exciting rides on the final day of Royal Ascot 2022 and he gave us the lowdown on each of them ahead of the big finale.

This horse has just had the one run so far so he has been given plenty of time ahead of this race. It is a race I’ve won before, back in 2013 on Berkshire at a big price, so whilst Sunningdale is a big price here that doesn’t put me off him.

Other horses have better form and it will be very hard to beat Alfred Munnings but I think he can run well at a good price.

Monaadah is a horse I absolutely love. I won on him in Dubai, which was the first race he won, then he returned and won over seven furlongs before carrying a double penalty to beat a horse who was rated 109.

There can be no denying how strong that form is and he nearly ran in the Britannia instead but handicapped himself out of that in the end.

He is a really smashing horse and he has a massive chance. I had the choice here between Monaadah and Alflaila but I just felt the latter’s form hasn’t worked out as well and that was my main reasoning for the choice I’ve made.

Alflaila is a very good horse too but I think I’m on the right one here.

Hurricane Lane is going to be exceptionally hard to beat here. My mount has only been beaten twice and one of those was a second to Bay Bridge, last time out.

We step up to a mile and a half now for the first time and whilst I am not sure whether or not we’ll be good enough to beat Hurricane Lane, I do think he will run well and if the favourite does get beat then we will be there or there abouts.

I ride Minzaal in the big one on Saturday and he is a horse I love.

He ran very well here on Champions Day after a slow start and he is absolutely flying at home. I have ridden on him at home and I know how good he is at the moment.

The fast ground is unknown but that is not me saying he won’t go well on it, we just don’t know yet.

He has an ideal draw so if he copes with the ground then I really think that he will run a huge race. He is the one horse after Baaeed that I have been looking forward to all week.

I have picked up a ride for Kevin Ryan here on Bielsa and this horse has a good each-way chance with a win in the Ayr Gold Cup in his form from last year.

I have won this race before but it is a very hard race to win. This horse seems to like big handicaps and he is going here to be competitive. He can outrun his odds.

My last ride at Royal Ascot this year comes in the Golden Gate Stakes on Asgoodassobergets, a horse that has only had three runs but has won twice.

The victory last time out was only a small race at Wolverhampton, however he clearly has a lot of ability. This will be the first time I’ve ridden him and he is a big price, hopefully I’ve ridden a few winners by my final ride and I’m full of confidence and something magical happens!
