Jim Crowley previews his rides at Newbury on Saturday

Newbury 1.15 – Mutaany

I start the day on Mutaany, who finished a good second at Nottingham last time, and a couple of winners have already come out of that race.  I would expect him to progress for that run, the track and trip will be fine, and as the horse with the most experience in this race I’d be disappointed if he didn’t go close.

Newbury 2.21 – Reshoun

Reshoun is a bit of an old favourite of mine, we won this race two years ago, and he’s also a former Royal Ascot winner. He was second on his most recent start, we know he stays this trip really well and I would expect him to run another good race here.

Newbury 2.56 – Minzaal

I was actually a bit disappointed with Minzaal (pictured below) at Royal Ascot as I thought he would go close that day. He’s a high-class horse and he’d been working well at home prior to Ascot, but I did ride him slightly differently, going forward on him early and maybe he just didn’t enjoy that.

I still retain plenty of confidence in this horse, he has won on good to firm so he will act on this quick going, I’ll be more patient on him here, and I hope we can get back on track as he is a horse who has what it takes to become a stallion if he reaches his full potential.

Newbury 3.30 – Agostino

Agostino takes his chance in the Weatherby’s Super Sprint. He is rated only 70 so has plenty to find with some of these, but he’s been consistent in his three starts to date. He’s fully entitled to take a crack at this big pot, but as I say he will need to stay take a big step forward.
